WE ARE MORE THAN THE EYE CAN SEE

When Agathiyar brushed aside my pain telling me that it was "paarisa peedhai" I realized that whatever pain and discomfort I have had as a result of my practices was not in the physical body but the energy body. But the places it appeared in made me worry if there was a medical problem. In fact, I had asked Suren who frequented India then to ask if Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyar of Kallar Ashram could look into her Jeeva Nadi and identify if my problems were because of a medical issue, due to old age, or in fact the movement of energies. But though it was not answered then, Agathiyar, Dhanvantri, and Lord Murugan came and clarified that tattvas and energies could create havoc. Then we are told in the documentary film "Samadhi - The Pathless Path" that Carl Jung said, "To touch heaven one's roots must reach into hell",  out of the furnace of Babylon comes transformation, transfiguration, and new human potential. The Eastern traditions say that the lotus of awakening grows out of the mud of samskara, out of suffering.  What you see around you right now may seem like darkness, it may seem like madness. Actually, this is what awakening looks like on planet earth. What we are witnessing is a release of the old paradigm. You are witnessing the dismantling of old patterns. The collective samskaras or conditioned pattern creates the conditions of Maya. Many people are disillusioned with the current political, social, economic, and religious systems. This dispelling of illusion is a necessary part of seeing the truth."

And in a timely manner, Agathiyar just hours ago through Mahindren in explaining Sivavakiyar's song says the same. Due to man's inappropriate lifestyle, the Muladhara chakra or Kulam (pond or lake) has been dammed and prevented from flowing, with continuous practice of breathing techniques over time the chakras gain power or energy or Shakti. By continuing this one can become light and continue living as light, can become Brahmam in the Paraveli and reach the Holy Feet of Sivan who drank the poison.

Agathiyar had some time back lamented that nobody is following the Siddha way or We have shoved the Siddhas into the pages of history and into the large volumes of books that fill the shelves. Theirs remains a mere story to this day.  Michael Wood in speaking on Confucius in the "The Story of China", in the episode on "Ancestors" on BBC Earth, says of him, "Confucious is a living teacher in an unbroken tradition." Then sadly Michael moves on to say that "No ruler bought into Confucious's manifesto for change." Ramalinga Adigal too tried hard to bring change but left disappointed telling his followers that they had failed to listen and that the west shall catch up and pick up his teachings.

Swami Muktananda in his "Kundalini - The Secret of Life", a Siddha Yoga Publication, published by the SYDA foundation, 1994, wrote the same.

"As Kundalini moves up through Sushumna, she transforms the body and makes it fit for spiritual sadhana; it is only after the body has been purified that the shakti can work with full force. The basis of all disease and pain is the impurities that block the flow of prana in the nadis. These blockages are caused by imbalances and disorders in the three bodily humors - wind, bile, and phlegm - due to undisciplined habits of eating and immoderate living. In order to purify the nadis, kundalini inspires the various Hatha yogic movements or kriyas, which take place in the physical body."

Indeed the breath has had total control of me, coming on and spontaneously moving my insides. There were times in the past when my limbs moved on their own accord or rather these energies moved my limbs. It took place at the Sri Jeganathar Alayam in Tapah several times. It happened at Lord Muruga's abode at Thannirmalai, Penang. And at the caves in Sungai Siput where I was caught off-guard and landed in a dark pit, missing some boulders by inches. The spot used to be where our Paramaguru and Tavayogi's guru Chitramuthu Adigal had meditated. It happened at temples in India too.

The Siddhas brought us to the realization that we are not solely the Annamaya Kosa. You need the energy to move a thing. The prana and Pranamaya Kosa are the energy body that moves the physical. So what is this "I" then? Is it the physical body or the Pranayama Kosa? We cannot possibly be the body or the energy alone for we have a mind that thinks and drives the energy to move the body. So are we then the Manomaya Kosa? But wait a minute! We realize that there is someone driving our thoughts, driving us to think, analyze, judge, and opine. So are we the Vignanamaya Kosa then?

This body is lifeless without the energy derived from prana in food, water, and sunlight. This body is lifeless without the energy of the Pranayama Kosa. This body is lifeless without the Manomaya Kosa too. We turn into idiots without the Vignanamaya Kosa. All the experience gained through this composite body of 4 Kosas leads us to joy when it connects with the pleasures derived from the sense organs and bliss when it connects with the divine experiences. When we become drenched in the bliss that sheath of bliss is Anandamaya Kosa.

We are told that we are by nature a buddha or divine. We are the Atma, pure in nature. The Atma is only seen to be separate from the Paramatma when it leaves the home to stay with the Annamaya Kosa and Pranamaya Kosa momentarily just as a teen is eager to move out of his parent's home to gain his own experiences and supposedly be free. As Tavayogi says we need the body to know the breath, and we check the breath to ascertain if there is life in the body, both Annamaya and Pranayama Kosas are essential to exist and for survival. This is the state of plants and animals. Man has an added faculty that of the Manomaya Kosa to think. He is then gifted with the Arivu or intelligence that is the Vignanamaya Kosa so that he makes wise decisions. The wisdom in him leads him to know his Atma that is forever in a state of bliss in the Anandamaya Kosa.

MORE CLARIFICATIONS

If I carried out the Pranayama practices in the morning hours some two hours before sunrise, learning from the books initially in the eighties and later from Tavayogi in 2008, and from Agathiyar too who kept giving us regular updates like Microsoft's Patch Tuesday fixes, these days the breath determines when I should sit and contemplate. It drives me to sit whenever I have a sensation come on in the crown of my head. I realized that I could connect with the sensation in the crown of my head by merely bringing my thought to that spot. Besides this, it goes on as I move about doing my now limited chores during the day. Rather than me being aware of it, I feel that it is watching me continuously. For the past hour watching my breathing and taking long and deep breaths, while gently breathing in and out, the Shakti hijacked the moment. The breathing took a turn and became vigorous and spontaneous.

I had prepared a draft of my next posts and forwarded it to Mahindren last night for his perusal and opinion and if possible Agathiyar's views too for the memo clarifying the meaning of Udal, Uyir and Atma sometime back came through him.

This was the draft.

On 30.1. 2020 Agathiyar told me that I had stagnated in my worldly affairs and told me that, "You cannot possibly break the shackle alone. Hence follow the practices that I am to give you."

In July of 2022, he told me that "Currently your Muladhara and Svadhisthana are open. At present your breath is at the pond (lake). The time of its opening is near. Now is the right time to start your practice. This would open up the chakra completely.

When he mentioned இப்பொது மான் மூச்சி குளத்தில் இருக்கிறது, I understood that the breath is currently lodged in Svadhisthana as water is linked to the Svadhisthana chakra.

Shortly after on 22 August 2022, I felt a pull of a nerve and a tug right below the navel immediately upon waking up and stretching myself in bed at 6.40am. It brought on a swirling sensation followed by a chillness. My whole body became numb right to the tips. But it was blissful. Soon I felt nauseous and had the urge come on to pee and urine. I collapsed twice on the way to the toilet picking myself up each time. Back from the toilet, all was fine.

The next day, I woke up at 7.20am, to go to the loo but I could not piss. I collapsed again. I called my wife asking her to bring the peacock feathers over. I picked myself up and climbed onto the bed. She stroked my body with it. My body became numb from the shoulders down. I lay like a dead log on my bed. Although I could not move even an inch of my torso I was able to see, hear and talk and was aware of what was happening to me. I asked myself if this was what a dead body would feel like. Soon it went away.

Seeking answers to what had taken place, Agathiyar cleared the air later. He told me not to worry and said that the ponded water was released. Previously he had told me that energy had stagnated which I understood as at the Svathisthana. It was released now.

Days later I came across a piece on the net that was interesting since it related to what Agathiyar had said about the ponding and stagnation. The writer BG Venkatesh referred to the verse எனது குளத்தினும் நிரம்பிய குரு சிவபதியே of Ramalinga Adigal from his Arutpa. The writer wrote,

"Vallalar says "Enathu kulathinum nirambia guru sivapathiye" - here kulam (forehead - netri) means lake and also it means a water body same as river Yamuna also a water body. Hence, Kundalini is in the forehead, not at the base of the spine as the whole world is thinking and spiritual masters have been passing on this message down the ages. Kundalini activation can happen thru a technique called "chalana thanthiram" which has to be learned from a competent guru without which, kundalini can never be activated. Also, without the help of the sacred feet of the lord, kundalini cant be activated. No ascending and descending of it - it is stationary and dormant at a single point blocking our entry into cosmic space. It can be zeroed that kundalini is closing the tip of the suzhumunai with its poisonous mouth. Sadhaka, on reaching the kundalinis location, awakens it, keeps it aside off his way, and makes his way to the cosmic space and marches ahead. This is the small role, kundalini plays in our yoga system, whatever yoga we do or follow."

This was interesting. If the pond or lake was at the forehead, it would mean that I had traversed far over the years and stagnated at the forehead and not the Svathisthana that I understood. When Agathiyar said I had seen Sadasiva does that mean I had arrived at the Ajna chakra since Sadasiva is the lord of this chakra?

Swami Muktananda in his, "Secret of the Siddhas", a Siddha Yoga Publication, 1980, writes, "Kundalini has three specific locations at the base of the spine in the heart and at the crown of the head."

Looking for this verse I found it in Ramalinga Adigal's Agaval. It was the 1038 verse.

There was an explanation given too. Ramalinga Adigal sings that his guru Sivam gives his darshan at 4 places. Manam, Kan, Uyir and Netri.

When I searched for the said technique called "chalana thanthiram" mentioned by the writer, it brought me to another interesting article of his Parkadal kadaithal - Churning the milky ocean, at https://groups.google.com/g/vallalargroups/c/S7I2Kyh6KbQ?pli=1

"There's a mythological story that once the milky ocean was churned using the Pranava mountain with a  divine serpent Vasuki by devas and demons on either side. Initially, came poison was consumed by Lord Shiva, and then came many virtuous things like Goddess Laxmi and other things, etc."

Does this ring a bell? Swami Muktananda in another of his work, "Kundalini - The Secret of Life", a Siddha Yoga Publication, published by the SYDA foundation, 1994, wrote,

"It is only after the body has been purified that the shakti can work with full force. The basis of all disease and pain is the impurities that block the flow of prana in the nadis. These blockages are caused by imbalances and disorders in the three bodily humors - wind, bile, and phlegm. She (kundalini) penetrates all 720 million nadis consumes all the old decaying fluids, then releases vital energy into them all. The nadis become filled with prana."

Swami Muktananda writes "In order to experience kundalini shakti one must use the instrument of the human body. The records of all the karmas of countless lifetimes are stored in the Sushumna Nadi which extends from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Shakti dwells at the base of the spine in the spiritual center called the Muladhara and Shiva at the crown of the head in the center called Sahasrara. The awakened Shakti rises from the base of the spine and unites with Shiva. This union brings perfection. One needs the grace of the guru and the compassion of kundalini." (Swami Muktananda, "Secret of the Siddhas", a Siddha Yoga Publication, 1980)

Agathiyar too has mentioned that shakti brings one to a state of perfection. We learn that the word Siddha in Sanskrit means the Perfected Ones. Hence we need to care for it and prepare it to receive the awakening of this shakti. For this purpose, we need a true guru who has seen her activated and alive in his body and has managed her.

I have the answer as to why I missed the awakening said to have taken place many years back after reading Swami Muktananda's book.

"Because the Shakti is subtler than the subtlest some people may not be aware of it during the initial stages of practice."

I guess I already was seeing it in action but did not realize it.

"A seeker experiences the fact that the Shakti can be drawn into the body from different sources such as the sun, clouds, fire, lightning, air, and ether. All objects are suffused with God's power. "The Shakti works in all 4 bodies: physical, subtle, causal, and supra causal."

I guess Agathiyar and Ramalinga Adigal and even Supramania Swami knowing that I could never meditate chose to be lenient on me.

"Even if one cannot meditate deeply on one's own by receiving Shakti from the guru one will automatically experience all yogic kriyas.

Then there is another song of Sivavakiyar that BG Venkatesh hints on,

We shall wait for Agathiyar or Ramalinga Adigal to clarify further.

This was the draft that I forwarded to Mahindren. As I type these posts it is half past three in the morning and I am beginning to get hunger pangs. Mahindren is corresponding with me on the other side through Whatsapp. He sends me Agathiyar's clarification on this post.

The meaning of this Song Anna,

Manithanin Muraiyadra Vazhviyal Muraiyaal
Mudakapaddu Kidakum Muladhara Sakkaram
(Ingu Kulam Enbathu Sakkarathai Kuripathaagum),
Kaalathinaal Medkolum Muchi Payirchinaal Sakkaram Sakthikolum,
Appadi Seithu Varave Oliyaagi Vazhalaam
Paravezhiyile Brahmam Aagalaam,
Vizham Kuditha Antha Sivanin Paathai Adaiyalaam

Due to man's inappropriate lifestyle, the Muladhara chakra or Kulam (pond or lake) has been dammed and prevented from flowing. With continuous practice of breathing techniques over time, the chakras gain power or energy or Shakti. By continuing this one can become light and continue living as light, can become Brahmam in the Paraveli and reach the Holy Feet of Sivan who drank the poison.

During this time Anna stagnated at Manipura Chakra. That’s why Appa asked to do Breathing Exercises to make the flow easier.

R Venugopal writes in his "Soul Searchers - The Art of Breathing", Health Harmony, New Delhi, 2000, "The Svadishtana is regarded as a blockage to the awakening of the kundalini. He says the actual awakening starts from the Manipura chakra only. Till the time Manipura chakra does not get purified and awakened the kundalini cannot rise fully."

Vallalar solliyathu Thannudaiya Chakrangal Elumbave Tannul Jothiyaai Iruntha Sivathai Arithen

From here what I can understand is that normal human who doesn’t follow any practice for breathing and doing all kind of activities is what makes them lock their chakras and have issues. If it was learned from Guru and practiced in daily life the Chakra activation will be smoother.

A CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS LEADING TO THIS MOMENT

Looking back at the many Nadi readings I had in the past I am overwhelmed to see Agathiyar's concern and interest in seeing us attain their state. I guess the only reason I know is that I was willing to listen. Instead of living for myself, I carried out their will. Hence I guess they paid me reasonably well. Yogi Ramsuratkumar said, "All the rituals and religious practices prescribed in the Vedas should make one reach the feet of the Guru if these rituals and religious practices are done with all sincerity. Once you attain the feet of the Guru, then you need not worry about your spiritual growth. You need not do any rituals also. It is enough to listen to your Guru and remember your Guru. Your Guru will take care of you and he will take you to the destination."  True to what Yogi Ramsuratkumar said the guru unleased the hidden dormant power that is much spoken about without my least effort. When there is so much glamour and publicity associated and given to the awakening of the kundalini in books, videos, and the net, often bringing on fear in us, I did not know nor realized this awakening until I was told in a Nadi reading on 13.10.2007. Though I began to read the Nadi in 2002 this was the very first mention of Kundalini.

When did this happen, how did this happen, I have no idea. I did not pursue my search nor speak about it to another not even my guru. Tavayogi was not one to entertain talk on Kundalini. The reason I am dwelling on it now is that Agathiyar recently wanted me to stop writing about his praise and share my inner experiences.

After picking up Yoga from Tavayogi officially, Patanjali came on 18.5.2008 to guide me further in the Nadi reading. The many practices taught and shown and put into practice shall bring on excessive heat within he said. Hence there was the need to take sattvic food that cools the body. This is the second instance the Kundalini is mentioned. He says that the colors of the aura will accentuate further as a result of the awakening.

But I never saw any difference in myself. Neither did others around me.

30.9.2008 Agathiyar comes to guide us further asking that we observe the breath telling us that Lord Vinayagar and Gautama Buddha excelled in this art. They remind us that they are sharing what they themselves had practiced and achieved. Again he surprises me by saying that the light from the third eye had emerged.

I did not notice anything nor any difference in me though.

8.12.2008 Agathiyar speaks about the importance of Pranayama further. Taking on the breath we shall see the veil of ignorance drawn aside to reveal the Jothi he said. Agathiyar throws in another surprise saying that due to my Vaasi practice or Pranayama, the Suzhimunai at the top of the head had opened. He assures me that he shall draw all the seven veils aside and have me see the Jothi. He said that he shall pave the way to reach the state of fulfillment and completeness that comes with the state of Soruba.

No, I did not sense anything on the top of my head.

27.8.2009 He gives further practice known as Tava Sukmam where he surprised me by telling me to focus on yet another couple of chakras that are not spoken of which he points out as residing at the top and bottom of the nose. Agathiyar mentions again that the Siddhas did all these.

26.12.2009 Agathiyar speaks about the third eye and Gnanam has having opened in me. He says that Tavayogi shall grant us the rest of the treasure.

I could not comprehend and associate with what he was implying.

2.1.2010 He says by just mentioning his name one shall gain the merits and grace he had gained.

31.1.2010 He tells me he shall pass on his Nool someday to be worshipped. I shall come to read it. It is both a present and gift from me.

3.4.2010 He asks to continue my yoga practice.

12.7.2010 He says I saw Sadashiva. Agathiyar asks that I spread his fame.

I did not know what that was too. Though the Siddhas spoke about the mystical changes that came by within me, I guess since I was not receptive enough, I was unaware of these changes in me. Life went on as usual for me. Also, I guess since I had a job and a family they did not want to disrupt my life in any manner. Hence when some are able to describe in detail the drastic and cinematic changes within them, I had nothing to say or share.

The changes became obvious only much later as I pursued on the road. Practicing the Yoga asanas and Pranayama techniques as shown by Tavayogi in 2007, Agathiyar in the Nadi reading on 9.8.2010 says the heat of my tapas was at its height. He says he has gifted me the tools to carry on with his work.

Now I began to take notice of changes that were obviously taking place. Weeks later seeing my agony of having pulled a nerve that gave me excruciating pain in my lower back right till the right toes, Agathiyar on 17.10.2010 gives me the good news and consoles me on the bad too. What is generally achieved through Hathayoga is now possible through Tapas and Puja he said. But he points out to my health that was declining. He asked to see a physician who can bring it back to its former state. With his grace, I shall recover well he added.

On 16.1.2011 Agathiyar who continued to monitor my situation assured me that all shall be fine. He asked me to continue taking the prescription for another half a mandalam.

9.8.2011  He acknowledges the blissful state I am in. The graceful light has increased in its immensity he says. By taking the Siddha path, one touches Siddhantam he says.

I was referred to the Orthopedic Specialist at the general hospital who put me on physiotherapy. In the நடைமுறை பிரசன்ன ஆசி நூல் read on 26.11. 2011 Agathiyar addressed the issue clearly. Agathiyar spelled out the reasons and the solution in the form of several Siddha herbs and prayers. He classifies my agony as Paareesa Peedai or உடலின் ஒரு பக்கம் that was external and "superficial, existing or occurring at or on the surface and  appearing to be true or real only until examined more closely." He says the Muladhara chakra had attained intense heat resulting in my condition leading to immobility. The three dosas too have gone haywire. He asked to consume Amalaki and Triphala. He asked that I stop all forms of tapas and yoga practices for the time being. He asked that I pray to the Sun God and Lord Murugan to bring relief.

16.1. 2012 He says that I should increase the moments sitting in puja by doing it in the mornings, noon and evenings too. He said that he shall test us in many ways.

On 15.2.2012 surprisingly the physiotherapist asked me to do the exercises that she had taught me and that I had put into practice over the past seven months before her. As I moved into position to begin to raise my right leg behind me and stretch my back, there was something like a latch released, a dam burst, a knot that was untied or loosened, as if something gave way, and it brought instantaneous relief and joy to the extent I shouted out and cried in joy. The excruciating pain left magically and mysteriously just as it had come on upon me. All was well as Agathiyar had said.

15. 2. 2013 He asks me why I need to rely on his Nadi when he is with us. He asks to stop the search. He shall provide for us.

Tavayogi used to ask us the same too.

21.9.2014 He ask that I write about the Siddha Marga. He shall induce me to write he says. He speaks about the chakras.

28.3. 2015 He thanks me for bringing others into the path through my writings. He says my home that was his Vanam has transited into Gnanakottam.

28.8. 2015 He says my writings have reached many. He sees the changes that have taken place within me.

The transition from the Nadi to directly speaking through others now began. These visitations were interspersed with Nadi readings. We had regular visitations from the deities and Siddhas through a devotee who comes often to AVM. Ma and Aiya were regulars then.

In 2016 we were surprised by the arrival of Dhanvanthri to treat my back pain that had reappeared. A couple who had just returned from Dhanvanthri's temple in India dropped in at my home in a timely manner bringing over his sacred prasad. Dhanvanthri used this sacred ash to rub it into my back and massaged me. He told me to heat up some sesame oil and apply it and sleep on level ground for the next few days. The pain eventually subsided and one fine day I realized it was gone.

18.11. 2017 Agathiyar in the Nadi says I was instrumental in some way towards the change others went through. He wants me to stay low and out of sight.

30.1. 2018 Lord Murugan comes in the Nadi and acknowledges that my ego died. He asks that I build a temple for him stating that though there are many in this nation he is shown "differently". I shall show him otherwise.

This puzzled me as I had no notion of what he was talking about. How could I show him differently I asked myself?

7.10.2018 Agathiyar in the Nadi says that my breath is a mess. The most compassionate father acknowledging that I cannot possibly withstand even the slightest pain chose to provide his medicines and ointments to bring on quick relief.

8.10.2018 Lord Murugan in the Nadi praises me for keeping a low profile yet spreading the wisdom of Agathiyar. He tells me my body is crumbling. Though age has caught up with me he resides as the Atma in us. My spine and hips are currently tense. The gel at the joints has hardened. This is the reason for the acute pain I was having. With some treatment done earlier, a quarter of the issue was overcome. He tells me why I had to go through the suffering. It was to have me sit in one place and do tapas. But both he nor Agathiyar did not abandon me. They have come to my aid through a Nadi reading and through a devotee. On a different note, he says that Agathiyar Vanam can take on a new name Agathiyar Tapovanam.

9.10.2018 The next day Lord Murugan comes in a Nadi reading for another devotee and explains how he healed me the night before.

3.1. 2019 They seem to want me to either build a temple or move to a larger venue as they anticipate a larger crowd that my humble home could not possibly accomodate.

After his revelation in the Nadi on 3.1. 2019, our relationship now became pretty close and personal with the divine. Lord Murugan spoke to us on 23.7.2019. Agathiyar came through a devotee on 15.9.2019. Ramalinga Adigal came on 29.11.2019 and later on 1.12. 2019.

5.9. 2019 Agathiyar tells me he lives in my as the Jeeva within. As the 3 dosas were cleared, the Suzhimunai is open, and the top too is open. The Kundalini fire has risen and I was partaking the Amirtham or honey. The awakening of the Kundalini is akin to the snake waking up causing us to stir and move in this way. But this is bliss he says. He asked me to remain calm and not to make a fuss about it. They shall speak to us, he adds giving upadesa. "What you say shall be our thoughts. We will work through you for the betterment of others." This is the third instance they spoke about the Kundalini.

I remember falling down after coming out of the loo. My body began to twist and turn beyond my control just as the snake lashes its body back and forth. This is what exactly Agathiyar had told me. But though I was wrinkling in pain it was blissful too at the same time. I was conscious and laughing away, while spread out on the parquet floor.

Ramalinga Adigal came on 29.11.2019 and hugged us all inviting us to invite the light within. "Arutperunjothi has taken possession of you. Open up your Atma. Open up your heart to receive him. The Jothi shall come within and embed in you. We are slaves to this Jothi. I am a slave too."

This was the very first time we got to know what a Pranava and Oli Degam would be like for the devotee in whom he came was lifted off the floor and we had to hold him back.

24.12.2019 Agathiyar in this final Nadi reading for me reveals what Gnanam is. The art of transforming the Asudha Degam into a Sudha Degam and later into the Pranava Degam and finally into the Oli Degam is indeed Gnanam. Gnanam then is in knowing this art and making the transformation happen.

Visitations and revelations through devotees came on 30.1. 2020, 8.2.2020, 21.2.2020, 8.3.2020, and 14.3.2020 before Malaysia saw a full lockdown on 18 March 2020. The messages from Goddess Ma, Lord Siva, Bhogar, Dhanvantri, Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Tavayogi, kept coming in throughout this period, 14.5.2020, 29.6.2020, 4.7.2020, 5.7.2020, 9.7.2020, 10.7.2020, 20.7.2020, 1.8.2020, 13.8.2020, 19.8.2020, 22.8.2020, 1.9.2020, 29.10.2020, 19.11.2020, 30.11.2020, 10.12.2020, 12.12.2020, 14.12.2020, 8.1.2021, 9.1.2021, 26.2.2021, 8.3.2021, 11.3.2021, 16.3.2021, 28.3.2021, 3.4.2021, 17.4.2021, 26.4.2021, 6.5.2021, 15.5.2021, and 22.5.2021. I soon lost count of the moments they came and delivered their messages.

On 30.1. 2020 Agathiyar gives further instructions to be followed. These practices shall take you further he said after he, through the Nadi, and Tavayogi guided me over the years. He told me that I shall come to know what is right and what went wrong. Both shall be lessons I learn. Whatever is initiated immediately and promptly shall bring on success. He says, "All this while you saw to your needs in this world. Now you shall undertake an internal journey. I shall relate what needs to be done to realize your purpose in coming here." He said I had stagnated. He continued, "You cannot possibly break the shackle alone. Hence follow the practices that I am to give you."

He said further, "Reduce your involvement in outside activities. Sit before me and meditate. During this moment carry out the cleansing breath as taught by your guru. Just the important ones. You shall sense a coolness within. Remain silent in these moments. Focus on your breath. Your breath shall touch the Suzhimunai and swirl. Travel along your 7 chakras. That journey shall awaken your chakras. After travesing these chakras when it touches the seventh you shall know your purpose here. This is the right time to start this practice."

Agathiyar continued on the changes to be expected, "You shall witness many changes taking place within you. Do not fear. Due to the activation of the chakras your body shall emit foul smell. You shall have constipation. You shall urinate often. Take lots of warm water.  The Agathiyar Kuzhambu you took did help in expelling the 3 dosas. But there still is. It shall be expelled in due time. Carry out the said practice."

Agathiyar enlightens us further. "When one starts the journey in going within, the result is Gnanam. But it shall vary among people. Hence I cannot say exactly what shall take place. All this while you have gained external knowledge or Ulaga Gnana. Now you shall gain Gnana that is going to serve you."

He spoke about his devotees who frequent AVM. "Get those who keep coming over to AVM to sit in meditation. When their external thoughts leave them Gnanam shall dawn on them and they shall take up the path of Gnanam."

He answered my yearning to pull the shutters down. "You need not go into solitude now. You need to share many things with others. I shall tell you when is the right time to do so. Start this practice first. It shall lead you one further."

He went on to ask me to prepare a concoction and reminded me that it was not to be shared with others.

"Sleep here in the prayer room from now on."

I was overjoyed to hear that Vallal (Ramalinga Adigal) shall aid me too with my practice. "When you realize yourself completely and realize that everything around you is impermanent you shall stand apart from it all. That is to be motionless in all manner or Summa Eruppathu. To arrive at that state increase your Soul Power or gain Atma Balam."

Agathiyar then throws in a word of caution. "Let go of your anger otherwise you shall not attain Gnanam because your anger in touching the chakras will weaken them. When in anger the blood shall intercept and change the motion of these chakras. When its motion changes the strength of your breath will diminish. Whatever your troubles, leave it to me.  Just carry out the breathing practices. Nothing else is necesary. When you reach the said state an energy or sakti shall enter you. That is Sulimunai."

Just as Agathiyar said Ramalinga Adigal came on 14.5.2020 and guided me further. He asks me, "Have you understood the purpose of asking to go within? Do your experience change within your body? This is only the start. You shall lay the stepping stones and progress at your pace. An effort is needed." I understand now that there are no stones laid out there for us to step on or rungs of the ladder to climb. We lay the stone and place the rung. If we had set our foot on the stepping stones laid out before us by someone else, a pioneer or explorer or master traveling the way before, now we pick up and lay the stones anew and step on it and lay another stone and step further or lay the rungs of the ladder according to our efforts and progress. "What you are doing currently is wonderful. Continue with it. Watching your breath is right. You are changing its flow correctly. Continue with it. You are on the first step. Prana moving in you is itself Pranava Degam. When you sense the Pranavam you shall question yourself if the Pranam is traveling in you or vice versa, if you are hitching on it and traveling in it. When you reach that state you shall have the answer. That moment shall be one of extreme bliss. Go deep within this bliss. There is more. Whenever you say it is enough you shall tend to gain more. There is much to learn. You have my blessings. I shall travel with you till you reach the destination. I accompany those who go deep within. Follow your breath. Place the effort and you shall reach the destination."

"Supramania Swami was the guru who led you to the path of worship to guru. He taught you guru bakti or devotion to the guru. You received the merits from his tapas. Tavayogi too in his light form, is trying to bring salvation to you. He is traveling with you. You traveled in his way and followed his teachings. You spread his fame and helped him attain the state of Jothi. He who is currently with you shall continue to travel with you."

"The noise around your neighborhood although obstacles but that is Gnanam. Be patient. Through your effort you shall conquer your senses. Till then these shall trouble you."

29.6.2020 Ramalinga Adigal surprised me by saying that "The lock to the hidden door between your eyebrows is open now." I had no idea what it was all about.

As Tavayogi says one's effort shall only bring him to his second chakra and the divine has to come to bring us further, my effort in doing worship, rituals, dharma, and Yoga, brought me to stagnate at the second chakra. Only after 10 years in July of 2020 did Agathiyar break the news that the energy from the Muladhara chakra which was activated back then in 2010, and that had ponded at Svadishthana was to be released to enable it to make its way up further. "Currently, your Muladhara and Svadhisthana are open. The breath is currently lodged in Svadhisthana. The time of its opening is near. Now is the right time to start your practice. This would open up the chakra completely. You will see many changes take place in your body. Don't be afraid. In activating these chakras your body shall smell foul, you shall have constipation, and you shall urinate often. The Agathiyar Kuzhambu you consumed earlier (on 27 June 2022) helped stabilize your Vata, Kapha, and Pitta. Yet these Dosas need to be expelled further."

Your journey till this day was external and was for worldly existence. Now you shall tread a journey that takes you within. You will come to understand the reason you were born. When your breath touches the Suzhimunai (சுழுமுனை) and travels, engaging with the chakras, upon reaching the seventh chakra, you shall get the answer. At that moment a Sakti will come within. That is சுழுமுனை or Suzhimunai. When everything is clear that is Gnanam.

22.8.2020 Ramalinga Adigal tells me "Use your breath to fan the Jothi. It shall travel through Sushumna and touch Ajna. Then the Jothi is seen. Carry out Nadi Sudhi to raise the Prana. It needs to travel in both nostrils. You shall then rests in completeness or Sudha Paripuranam. Dhyana will be yours then. You are one with the Prana. Pay attention to it. The changes in you is but discharges. It shall leave your body. Do not worry. What you are doing is tavam. Agathiyan has accepted and received it. Hence bath his statue once a week and please him. We shall continue working on your insides and from within."

19.11.2020 Agathiyar in telling the others said that "He shall share his experiences."

12.12.2020 Agathiyar tells the others gathered, "Read his writings. They are my thoughts. In the coming days I shall speak a lot about the Atma."

Weeks ago Agathiyar came and gave me more good news though its repercussions are affecting my body. "The water that ponded over time has been discharged. Having the chakras activated in this age has its consequences towards the body. As the heat of the tapas increases the quantity of blood is affected that shall lead to cramps which shall then result in problems in the discharge of urine and faeces. Take the neccesary medicines. Do not worry."

Agathiyar gives me strength and courage. He says, "Do not be afraid of death. It is but another door to another journey. One who invites death is a Siddha. There is much I need to carry out through you. Enough of my praise. Write about your bodily experiences. Let your writings be about the changes taking place in your body. Let your readers know the changes that take place in the body if they come to worship the light and seek to merge with it. My wisdom shall be your experience. Experience first and I shall clarify the experiences later. Experience is knowledge to you. Nothing is beyond experience."

Agathiyar gives me confidence saying, "If going within is difficult think of it as a practice for you. Going within will bring you to merge with the Prapanjam. There is no easy way. What you go through is very much easier and milder that what I went through."

Agathiyar ends the note by telling me that there is no easier way to attain or merge with the breath, the sensation, the vibration, the magnetism, the Prapanjam, and the Jothi. With a little effort from us, the Siddhas shall aid us further. Then the energies will do the rest. The breath is akin to the river that turns the turbine machine in our case the chakras to produce electricity and energy. We have basically become a dynamo. The swirling sensation felt several weeks ago in the abdomen just below my navel is now regularly felt in the top of my head with a lesser intensity. I guess this is what Agathiyar meant when he said I shall feel a magnetic wave arise. The body is now a magnet that is attracting the effulgence from beyond. We understand that while we see lightning appear in the skies and strike things on the ground, there is a small amount of electricity that reaches out to it from the earth. The small amount of electricity meets the larger expanse that is God. A clear nostril is a highway for these energies to hitch on the breath and make their way swiftly to the depo at the top of the head.

Over a couple of days, it seems more like a flowering of petals and is blissful. Agathiyar previously reminded me not to allow anyone to touch my head. Soon the pandemic came and I never visited the barber till this day. As our journey is one, my wife cuts my hair. Recently when Dhanvantri came I fell before him. He reminded me not to fall at anyone's feet.

Last Sunday as we were celebrating Navarathri at the home of a senior couple, Ramalinga Adigal came and brought down heaven and its energies and passed it on to all gathered through a devotee. I felt my body rise and float as others held on to me. A child devotee told the host that she saw a blue halo instead of me. It was a couple of days before the energy in us subsided.

Reaching this point of the journey itself was a great blessing for me who was never ambitious both materially and spiritually. How did the grace fall on me? Was it because I had listened to them?

ARE WE THERE YET?

Figuring out what had taken place and the events that brought it on, as I look back at the journey it is pretty obvious that the divine energies have come into play in my life to catapult me in my inner journey just as they had a hand in my outer journey too. Guiding me in the Nadi regularly until the pandemic when the Nadi readers were not accessible to us, they came through devotees to continue monitoring us. This brought on a personal touch with them as they placed their palms on our heads and chests, stroked our backs, applied the sacred ash on our forehead, and placed some in our mouths. We held hands as we sat around in a circle placing the oil lamp in the center. They brought down the energies into the space we sat in and into our bodies. I guess unknowing to us they were giving us Shaktipat through these means.

Swami Muktananda in his "Kundalini - The Secret of Life", a Siddha Yoga Publication, published by the SYDA foundation, 1994, describes shaktipat from the guru, as "when the guru directly transmits his own divine shakti to the disciple."

"The easiest and best method (of awakening, activating, and setting into operation the kundalini) is through shaktipat from the guru, when the guru directly transmits his own divine shakti to the disciple. It is the secret initiation of the greatest sages and has been passed on from guru to disciple from the beginning of time."

"After you receive shaktipat meditation starts spontaneously and at that time prana and apana the ongoing and outgoing breath become balanced and long kumbhaka retention of breath begins to take place effortlessly. The prana becomes extremely subtle and moves into the Sushumna and then the Sushumna opens up and begins to unfold. When kundalini awakening takes place through grace it will rise of its own accord and become established where it should be established. Kundalini will take care of herself... when the kundalini is awakened by the grace of the guru the grace itself will guide it in the correct manner. There is absolutely no danger in such a case."

"After the awakening of kundalini, meditation comes spontaneously. There is no need to center the mind because the kundalini herself grabs hold of the mind and centers it in whatever place she considers suitable."

Indeed I felt the pull of this energy that was so obvious felt on the top of my head and that drew my attention to it and brought my breath, now flowing freely to caress the spot. I could do nothing else at this moment initially. Slowly it went on as I went on with my limited daily activities.

"It is only after the body has been purified that the shakti can work with full force. The basis of all disease and pain is the impurities that block the flow of prana in the nadis. These blockages are caused by imbalances and disorders in the three bodily humors - wind, bile, and phlegm."

Now I realize how Agathiyar had worked hard on preparing my body for the eventually Shakti to be transmitted. He had me take his Agathiyar Kuzhambu and prepare another of his herbal cleansing formula to consume.

"She (kundalini) penetrates all 720 million nadis consumes all the old decaying fluids, then releases vital energy into them all. The nadis become filled with prana."

The excretions from all the openings in my body were smelly during this process as told by Agathiyar too. I thought my body was decaying from within. My stools were in different consistencies, shapes, and colors. Now that I know the reason for it, that old decaying fluids were being expelled, I am at peace.

"When the nadis are cleansed the mind is purified. The mind is intimately connected to the prana. To control the mind yogis try to control their breath. The prana and Apana become even and eventually, the breath begins to be retained within. This is called kumbhaka. In true kumbhaka the prana and Apana become one at that point. Prana does not go out nor does Apana come in. When the prana stops the mind becomes still and you experience supreme tranquility. Great beings are in this state of inner stillness."

Agathiyar eventually led us on to retain our breath recently, after many years of Pranayama.

"If one has awakened the kundalini through self-effort it is very difficult to lead it upward because right from the moment the kundalini is awakened until the moment it finally merges in the Sahasrara the seeker has to depend on yogic practices."

We are glad that Agathiyar was on hand and had a hand in awakening this super force in us without having to go through much pain and trouble. As he told me he had made it so simple that he could not simplify the process further, reminding me how he had to go through it the tough way, so did Tavayogi quip that I had come to the path quite easily compared with the rough journey he had. I am indeed blessed. I am deeply grateful to them.

THAT SACRED SPACE

We need to create a space in our homes to usher and delight in the company of the Gods and Goddesses. We need to set aside an area, if space permits a separate room would be ideal, for our nithya or daily puja. With the continuous conduct of puja soon we begin to create a space in us to allow the Guru and God to occupy. This becomes the cave or kugai in our hearts where Lord Murugan or Kugan comes to reside. He shall then bring on Gnanam from within us.

Poet and saint Nakirar in his "Vinayagar Thiruagaval" seeks the grace of Lord Ganapathy asking to create the avenue and a special moment to be with the Guru, a moment of sitting in silence with the Guru, merging in thought with him, asking that even the thought of the guru as being separate be dropped, and become identified with the Guru, to be one with the Guru. Nakkirar's prayer became my prayer too since that day. It has become the prayer of many who frequented AVM too. Now their children sing the song too.

Seeing our eagerness to reach him, soon the divine creates a space at the top of the head where the effulgence or Arutperunjothi comes down and meets the Kundalini Sakti that once started creation in us and settled down in a deep slumber within the folds of the flower petals in the Muladhara. When we surrender to the will of God he drives the force in us for this merger to take place. The Sakti awakens with the help of the guru now and makes its way to meet its spouse in this sacred reunion in this sacred space. When Sakti meets Shiva the dance of joy reverberates in this space. This is the dance of Shiva Sakti. The first step then is to let God into our homes and later within.

Swami Kripananda author of the "Sacred Power (Kundalini)", and "The Guru's Sandals" in writing the introduction for Swami Muktananda's "Kundalini - The Secret of Life", a Siddha Yoga Publication, published by the SYDA foundation, writes,

"This knowledge (of the kundalini) was so well hidden, in fact, that when Swami Muktananda received kundalini awakening from his own master Bhagawan Nityananda and began experiencing its effects he had no idea what was happening to him. He wrote his first great work the spiritual autobiography "Play of Consciousness" to prevent his own students from running into the same confusion and to help them understand the process unfolding within them.

As Swami Kripananda says, indeed the experience catapults us into a new world. After Ramalinga Adigal came and hugged all of us during Navarathri, as Swami Kripananda wrote, incredibly powerful waves of love began to surge inside me for the next two days to the extent I did not know what to do with this immense and intense unbelievably powerful wave moving through me.

Swami Kripananda writes further that "whether Shaktipat (a process by which the guru awakens kundalini) comes to us dramatically like a sonic boom or very quietly and subtly as it does to many people the awakened kundalini totally transforms our outlook and our experience of ourselves." I guess I fall into the latter.

As Swami Kripananda quotes "an aphorism of the kundalini tradition, a guru should be enlightened, he should pierce all the inner blocks and he should transmit and control the shakti spiritual energy, I am blessed to have Agathiyar and Ramalinga Adigal who gave me this gift, constantly monitor us, and drop in often to relate what was taking place within hence enlightening us.

I had a father of my daughter's schoolmate tell me that a stranger swami from abroad who was visiting touched him in his abdomen and he felt a swirling sensation within on their very first visit at a public park. Sadly no relationship or correspondence between them ever took place. It was a case of hit and run. The receiver of this energy soon fell into a state of mess both on the outside and inside, having added more woes by seeing numerous other established gurus and taking on more initiations. His gurus were not around when he needed them most. When he stepped into my home, Agathiyar despatched Ramalinga Adigal's song the Arutpa which he listened to. It heightened his state momentarily before Agathiyar and deity Aiya subdued the energy in him and cleared the blockages within him.

Swami Kripananda gives us a reminder "that it is not enough for the guru to awaken kundalini. The guru also controls and regulates the process helping to remove all the blocks and obstacles in the disciple's path until the disciple attains the ultimate realization of the self. Being one with the inner energy the guru can accomplish this on a subtle level from within."

When I too felt the need to have Tavayogi around to share my inner experiences and get clarification and remove some fears, Lord Muruga, Agathiyar, Ramalinga Adigal, and Dhanvantri came to relieve my sadness telling me that Tavayogi was still with me in the state of Jothi and that they too were looking over me and guiding me further. They kept their word.

The guru brings on the grace of his guru, the Paramaguru, and the entire lineage of gurus before him. Swami Kripananda writes "because he has merged his individual awareness into the divine the guru can serve as a pure vessel through which its pure energy flows. It is this transmission of divine energy which awakens and guides the kundalini." We learn that it is not the guru in physical form that matters but the Guru Principle, as Swami Kripananda says of the principle of grace which had been clothed in a guru's physical form for years and which can be embodied in another.

If Agathiyar prepared my body by giving us several Yogic techniques and Siddha medicines to consume, the Kundalini Sakti once awakened is said to purify it further. When I asked Agathiyar what I should do, thinking that there were further Yoga practices to carry out, he told me there was nothing for me to do. "It shall work in you" he replied.

So how does the power work in us? Swami Kripananda writes, bit by bit as it moves through the subtle system, blocks are removed, addictions fall away, and one's life is set in order. Ultimately the experience of the self becomes constant.

DEATH

From an article on https://www.britannica.com/science/human-body/Basic-form-and-development, we learn of the "Effects of Aging"

"As the human body ages, it undergoes various changes, which are experienced at different times and at varying rates among individuals.

  • The skin is one of the most accurate registers of aging. It becomes thin and dry and loses elasticity. Patches of darker pigmentation appear, commonly called liver spots, though they have no relation to that organ.
  • Hair grays and thins.
  • Wounds take longer to heal; some reparations take five times as long at 60 as at 10 years of age.
  •  Sensory fibres in spinal nerves become fewer; the ganglion cells become pigmented and some of them die. In the auditory apparatus, some nerve cells and fibres are lost, and the ability to hear high notes diminishes. In the eye, the lens loses its elasticity.
  • Organs such as the liver and kidneys lose mass with age and decline in efficiency. The brain is somewhat smaller after the age of 40 and shrinks markedly after age 75, especially in the frontal and occipital lobes. This shrinkage is not, however, correlated with declines in mental capacity. Intellectual declines in the elderly are the consequence of underlying disease conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease or cerebrovascular disease.
  • The bones become lighter and more brittle because of a loss of calcium. This loss in bone mass is greater in women than men after the fifth decade.
  • In joints the cartilage covering the ends of bone becomes thinner and sometimes disappears in spots, so bone meets bone directly and the old joints creak. Compression of the spinal column can lead to a loss of height.
  • Muscular strength decreases but with marked individual variability.
  • The arteries become fibrous and sclerosed. Because of decreasing elasticity, they tend to become rigid tubes. Fatty spots, which appear in their lining even in youth, are always present in old age.

In vitro experiments indicate that the body’s cells are programmed to undergo a finite number of divisions, after which time they lose their reproductive capacity. Thus, the potential longevity of the human body—about 100 years—seems to be encoded within the very cells of the body.

Do we only want to turn to God when we have reached this state? When I once told Tavayogi that I would love to see him attain the state of Jothi, he honestly told me that it was not possible in this life. The reason is that he had exceeded the age of 60. He said that it had to be attained before 60. Agathiyar said the same in explaining to me the consequences of activating the chakras late in age. I am 63 this year. Agathiyar in a song to Lord Narayana reminds us to take hold of God's hand early in life rather than postpone it for a later date or another day.

Agathiyar places himself in our shoes and sees himself face old age and death.
  • At that hour when death approaches me I am not sure if I will remember you, hence I am remembering you now Narayana, please take heed of my calling,
  • When kapam or phlegm arises and my tongue quivers, I am not sure if I will remember you, hence I am calling you now so that you would appear then to save me, Lord Narayana,
  • When vayu or the vital air comes to a halt, and all senses seize to function, and my soul begins to leave, I am not sure if I would be thinking of you, hence I call out to you now so that you come to my aid then,
  • When all that I thought was mine suddenly is of no significance and importance at the time of death, I am not sure if I will remember you my Lord, but nevertheless, I pray that you would come then Lord Narayana, hence I am calling you out now,
  • When Yama's servants appear to bind and take me away, I cannot promise that I would think of you, hence I call you now my Lord,
  • When my next of kin surround my death bed and wail and cry out, I don't know if your thought will arise in me, hence I cry out for you my Lord this very moment, so that you would appear to save me during my final moments! and so the song goes on.
At that moment of inability, immobility, and gone senile, or with acute illness, he says he might not be able to utter the name of Lord Narayana, hence he reminds us to take the opportunity to sing the praise of the Lord and acquire merits or tokens or gold coins that can be exchanged for an extension in life later in life, right now at this very moment while we are hale and healthy, quite akin to saving for a raining day.

CS Murugesan in his book, "Siddhargalin Saagaakalai", Azhagu Pathipagam, 1998, gives us a small inkling and hint into this miraculous possibility. The Siddhas have the ability to breathe into the Dhananjaya nerve the essential and life-saving Prana, something that Agathiyar often says that he has given his breath to revive and save his devotees. The Siddhas blow the lifegiving air into the Dhananjaya and revive the death.

Could this be the resurrection that we know about in saints and holy men? Could this be what Ramalinga Adigal said that the dead shall arise?

As we have Upagurus, so do we have Upavayus in our body. The chief vital air or Dasavayus are prana, apana, samana, udana, and vyana, while naga, kurma, krkara, devatta and dhananjaya are Upavayus. Dhananjaya being one of it, is said to be the last lingering Vayu or Air that keeps the body warm after all others have evacuated or vacated the body that was once our home.

God is trying to open our eyes each moment to the true reality and get his message across to us but we fail to see it. We attend funerals just like attending another function. Here is where we are shown the impermanence of life. If we can come back from attending motivation courses renewed and alive and change our ways, why is it that the cord does not strike for us to change our ways and take hold of the hands of God after attending funerals?

Pattinathar laments at this sad situation upon seeing those gathered at funerals crying our the loss of their dear ones forgetting that their day shall come too.

Srinatha Raghavan posted the following enlightening conversation on Fb some time back,

In Banares, I happened to meet a young Aghori or a Tantrik, on the ghats of Manikarnika. As I was just staring into the pyre of death, He came and sat beside me and struck a seamless conversation.

He: Death is as temporary as Life?
Me: Yes.

He: Do you know why Death (Yama) & Time (Kala) are so feared?
Me: No.

He: Because they are least understood?
Me: True.
Me: How to understand Death?

He: By experiencing it, even when alive.
Me: And how do we do that?

He: Under the guidance of a Guru, you can experience Death.
Me: What is Death?

He: There is nothing called Death?
Me: What?

He: Death as we know it, is just physical cessation of the Body and it's functions.
Me: Yes.

He: But what made the Body once tick, the spark of life, lives on and just like a drop of Water that has turned into Vapour, it goes back to become one with the whole.
Me: Interesting.

He: What is more interesting is what happens after that?
Me: What would that be?

He: It's the way the whole game once again, when the droplet separates itself from the whole to become an individual again.
Me: That's true.

He: Thus the play of life and death continues, till the drop has finally lived it's share of desires to assume a form and lives happily as a part of the formless whole.

Then giving me some Bhasma and a Rudraksha, as a parting gift, He said, "May this Bhasma ever remind you of the impermanence of life and death and the Rudraksha of the latent Divinity that lay hidden within you, which is nothing less than Shivahood?"

Here too we miss the lesson in adorning the sacred ash or vibhuti daily. If the reason we are asked to adorn our forehead and body is to remind us that death shall visit us someday, sadly we adorn it just like any other attire or accessory or an outward symbol of our devotion or bhakti.

Death is another doorway to another journey says Agathiyar. One who faces death boldly is indeed a Siddha he says.

From www.lionsroar.com we read that "In Buddhism generally, death isn’t death - it’s a staging area for further life." Time too doesn't stand still. "As soon as it occurs, it immediately falls into the past." "All conditioned things have the nature of vanishing,” the Buddha said. All conditioned things pass away. Nothing remains as it was. The body changes and weakens as it ages. In response to this, and to a lifetime’s experience, the mind changes as well. The way one thinks of, views, and feels about life and the world is different. Even the same thoughts one had in youth or midlife take on a different flavor when held in older age." (Source: www.lionsroar.com)

The message of the world’s great Upanishadic Siddhas, retold by Swami Satprakashananda in his book "Meditation - Its Process, Practice, and Culmination, published by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, echoes the words of Agathiyar who told me not to be afraid of death.

“Death is not your final end. Do not give way to despair. You are not destined to be subject to this play of dualities forever. There is the Supreme Being, The very perfection of existence, Which you can reach in this mortal life and where you can find life beyond death and complete fulfillment of your ideal. Therein is the culmination of your knowledge, Therein is the consummation of your love, Therein is complete rest, and therein dwells unruffled peace. There shines the light that never fails, In addition, there abides joy unbounded. How can man reach that? Through this very life, By regulating this mortal life he can reach the immortal.”

THE GURU'S GRACE

Man is created perfect in every sense. Man is the greatest miracle. I tend to look at the body with awe. Who must have created it? "The human body, the physical substance of the human organism, is composed of living cells and extracellular materials and organized into tissues, organs, and systems. These four basic cell types, together with their extracellular materials, form the fundamental tissues of the human body. Chemically, the human body consists mainly of water and of organic compounds—i.e., lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids.  (Source:https://www.britannica.com/science/human-body)

Talking to Acharya Gurudasan about chakras, I gather that the Muladhara chakra was solely concerned with survival. This would be the state of the very first man. Next, his concern moved to procreation. He then stood at Svadhisthana. I guess this is how man evolved to become the present human. Can I then say that it is only after his higher chakras were activated that he turned his concern to higher things in life, especially wanting to know his purpose in life; why he had taken birth and where was he before this, and where was he going after this.

For instance, the breath that travels and alternates every two hours between the two nostrils and its associated Ida and Pingala Nadi serves him well and keeps him alive. He never turns his sight on the higher possibilities available to him. But when he turns his sight within and brings his breath to run through the central Nadi Sushumna, all grace and opportunities open up within to an entirely new experience and perspective of the self and the world around us.

"When one’s consciousness or conscious existence is centrally poised in the central axis of the spino-medullar column or rather the cerebrospinal column or at the Sahasrara, the top of the head, both the said dual aspects or currents can be balanced continuously and in all respects-in the physical, vital and mental levels of one’s existence. That is the blissful spiritual or Yogic life when one is said to be equipoised and comes to live and breathe centrally in Sushumna, the central spinal column." Man is the greatest miracle yet we disregard this body. It is the greatest treasure and means to evolve to other states and stages of consciousness. It is only man who can evolve to become divine. The means is through worship of those who had reached this state and through the many methods, and practices that are handed over to us by them.

Swami Muktananda explains why one needs a master in his book "Kundalini - The Secret of Life", Siddha Yoga Publication, 1994,

“The Guru has found everything you are seeking; that which you want has become the Guru’s wealth. The difference between you and the Guru is that you are the seed and the Guru is the full-grown tree; you are the beginning, and he is the end. If he tries to discover a path by himself, he will simply go around in circles, walking for a long time but never reaching his goal.”

In "Secret of the Siddhas", a Siddha Yoga Publication, 1980, Swami Muktananda writes, "Forgetfulness of one’s true nature is the moss of ignorance that muddies the experience of the self. The Guru is the means of removing it. The grace of a Siddha simply removes the veil of ignorance so that one realizes that one is already perfect. For this reason, all scriptures and Sadhana are simply means of washing away the filth of ignorance. They have no ability of their own to reveal the wisdom of the self because that principle is self-existent, perfect, and always manifest.”

Paul Zweig in the introduction to Swami Muktananda’s "The Perfect Relationship", Syda Foundation, 1985, writes, “Swami Muktananda explains over and over again that only the Guru can point the way on this subtlest of all paths. He felt that God's 'secret’ was not contained in any Sanskrit formula, ancient ritual, or technique of meditation; that severe austerities and physical deprivation would not reveal it. He felt that the ‘secret’ resided with great beings, with saints; they were themselves the ‘secret’ and he could learn what they were by loving them and sitting at their feet. Swami Muktananda himself traveled all over India seeking a Guru. He became a monk at the ashram of Siddharuda Swami. After almost twenty-five years, he met Bhagawan Nithyananda. “In a flash of self-understanding he knew that he had found his other half; that now he was whole again.” Swami Muktananda realized that the ‘secret’ was with the Guru and so the need for one to learn at the feet of such a Guru.”

Swami Shivananda of Rishikesh too went in search of a Guru and explains how he benefited from the association with the Guru. After serving as a doctor in Malaya Shivananda decided to quit his career and become a mendicant in 1923. He writes,

“I led the life of a wandering monk, just for a short period, in search of my Guru and of a suitable place charged with spiritual vibrations, for spending my life in seclusion and to do rigorous Sadhana. I met many Mahatmas and learned wonderful lessons. I came to Rishikesh in June 1924 and found it my destination. I prayed to the Lord for his grace. From the sacred hands of Paramahansa Viswananda Saraswati, I received holy initiation on the bank of the Ganga on 1 June 1924. My Guru gave me initiation and enough spiritual strength and blessings.”

Yogi Ramsuratkumar too went in search of a Guru. In 1947 with a burning desire to realize his innate divinity, he set off in search of a master. The search for his spiritual father brought Ramsuratkumar first to Sri Aurobindo and later to Ramana Maharishi. After spending three days with Ramana Maharishi he moved on to Swami Ramdas. When Ramana Maharishi followed by Aurobindo, passed away, Ramsuratkumar thought that he should offer himself to the remaining sole savior Ramdas. Ramsuratkumar had at last found his master. Although he had seen Ramdas numerous times before, he came to recognize Ramdas as a truly great Siddha now.

I am blessed to become a student of Supramania Swami of Tiruvannamalai. Swami was himself a student of Yogi Ramsuratkumar. Through his connection with his masters, I guess I have come to receive the blessings of Ramana, Aurobindo, and Ramdas too.

Swami Muktananda stresses,

“Without the Guru’s company, it is difficult to contemplate the self. Without the Guru’s teaching, there is no discipline in one’s life. Without the Guru’s blessing, there is no love. Without the Guru’s knowledge, there is no end to desire, the intellect does not receive the light of wisdom, and the delusion and pain created by duality are not eradicated, nor are doubts dispelled. The Guru is as necessary as Prana, the life force, is necessary to the body.”

I guess loving Agathiyar and sitting at his feet paid off for me and the rest. We are blessed to have Agathiyar and Ramalinga Adigal come often and bless, touch, hug, stroke, and initiate, activate our within by giant leaps. Otherwise, we would be struggling to climb the stairs. The Guru sends upagurus to coach and guide us further.

Ram Dass in "Paths to God – Living the Bhagavadgita", Harmony Books, 2004, (Das R., 2004) writes, “A Satguru is the one who is the doorway. Along the way, however, there are the Upagurus. They are teachings for us; they are like marker stones along the road – teaching rather than teachers.”

It is beautiful to read that we are surrounded by a web of well-wishers waiting to help us get free, as Ram Dass writes,

“We look around and see that we are being guided, protected. Besides the Satguru and Upagurus on the physical plane, there are astral guides, and beings on all those other planes as well. We are surrounded by a web of well-wishers, all wanting to help us get free.”

Swami Muktananda writes, in "Where Are You Going. A Guide To The Spiritual Journey" published by Syda Foundation, 1989,

“Such guides exist…they enter our lives when we are ready to know the truth about ourselves, when we are ready to discover our own inner reality. Meeting us inwardly and outwardly, on every level, at every stage of our journey, the Guru accompanies us so that we may arrive at the goal. Meeting the Guru, we have an experience of the truth. Meeting the Siddha Guru, we receive the blessings of all the perfected ones.”

I was in joy when Ramalinga Adigal told us "Our Father Agathiyan will come within you to draw the curtain aside. That is the meaning of the song. My Father Agathiyar is in all of you bidding his will. Follow in his path. He shall assist you to drop the veil. Arutjhothi blesses you. Arutjothi Aandavar blesses you. You are on the right track. Agathiyan shall lead you to Arutjhothi" Ramalinga Adigal asks that we continue to take the Holy Feet of "Appan Agathiyan" as he addresses Agathiyar, as Satguru, and that he would help remove the veil of ignorance in us and show us to Arutperunjhoti. "His holy feet shall be salvation for you. He is all. Go deeper. He shall take care. He shall bring you to the light", he added. "Agathiyar shall set aside the veil that hides Arutperunjhoti from you", he promised. "Since you came to Agathiyar and his path, he will be the guiding light", he says. He asks that if we continue on his path, Agathiyar shall lead us to Arutperunjhoti. Agathiyar shall remain a guiding light for you, then, now, and forever." He asked us to kindle the flame within to burn with such intensity that it shall draw aside the veil or curtain that stands between us and God. There is a need to shed the veil or curtain. The means is to light the Jothi or light or flame in us.

TR Thulasiram wrote in his booklet "தெய்வீக மனித புது இன சிருஷ்டிக்கு அருட்பிரகாசரும் ஸ்ரீ அரவிந்தரும் அன்னையும்" that Ramalinga Adigal very much wanted others to realize his experience and state. He went further to bring the Jothi within these people and have him rule over them.

This has taken place numerous times and whenever Ramalinga Adigal comes. We saw his joy in seeing us gathered and in hugging us. He truly wants us to achieve his state. How can we let him down?
